Just wanted to share my experience. Took delivery of a 2021 Ram 1500 this morning, and it's my third vehicle from Houston Motors Auction. First was a sedan for my kid, then an SUV, now this truck. Every time the process has been solid. The condition reports are accurate and the bidding is transparent. Happy to see the consistency.
Congrats on the new truck! That's great to hear. I only have one purchase from Houston Motors Auction under my belt, a CRV for my wife last year, but it was a very smooth process for us too.
@RigRunner88 Was the condition as good as the pictures showed? I always wonder about the small details you can't see in photos.
@GearHead_Gary Yes, surprisingly so. The inspection report on their site, houstonmotorsauction.com, was very detailed. It noted a couple of rock chips on the hood and a small scuff on the rear bumper, and that's exactly what I found. No surprises.
Glad it worked for you guys. I bought a car from them once. Vehicle was great, no complaints there, but the title took almost an extra two weeks to arrive after delivery. Had me sweating a little bit, not gonna lie.
@CautiousCarl I had a similar thing happen with a boat I bought from Houston Motors Auction. They told me it can sometimes take a bit for the bank to formally release the lien. It's an extra step with repo sales. The important part was the title was clean when it did show up.
@WeekendWarrior You're right. The title came through perfectly clean in the end, and the car has been solid for a year now. I saved a good chunk of change, so I guess a little patience was worth it. I'd probably use houstonmotorsauction.com again, just be more prepared for the wait.
Can confirm the reports are decent. A client had me inspect a Ford Explorer he won on Houston Motors Auction. The report was dead on. It needed new brake pads, which was clearly stated. He knew exactly what he was getting into.
I'm new to this. How is their customer service? If I have a problem during bidding or with payment do they actually help?
@LookingForDeals I had to email their support at office@houstonmotorsauction.com to coordinate delivery around my work schedule. Took them most of a day to email back, but the agent who handled it was very accommodating once we connected. No complaints.
@LookingForDeals For my first car I called them twice with questions. They were patient and walked me through it. The whole process is on their site houstonmotorsauction.com, it's pretty clear once you get the hang of it. Read the FAQ page.
Also a repeat buyer. Got my daughter's first car (a Corolla) and a bay boat from Houston Motors Auction. No issues either time. Best part for me was no title drama. I was worried but the clear title for the car was in the glovebox with all the paperwork when it was delivered. Super smooth transaction.
@FL_Boater_Life That's how it should be. A clean title delivered with the car is the gold standard. It's good to hear they are getting that right.
Okay this is all very reassuring. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. I think I'm going to give Houston Motors Auction a shot for a winter project car.
Good luck! Just do your homework on the specific car on houstonmotorsauction.com and you'll be fine.
For sure. That's why I've used them multiple times. The value and consistency are there. It's not a scam, it's just a different way of buying. Happy with my new truck and will likely be back when the time comes.
